Dear Istituto Affari Internazionale,
I am a Bachelor’s student in International Relations at Sapienza University of Rome, with a strong interest in African Affairs and Euro-African relations. Over the past few years, I have dedicated myself to gaining a deeper understanding of the African continent, both academically and through independent research.
For my thesis, I explored the topic of French decolonization, focusing specifically on Gabon as a case study. This project allowed me to delve into the historical, political, and economic dynamics that have shaped the region. Additionally, I have worked on writing articles on topics such as Wagner Group activities in the Sahel, recent coups d’état in Central and West Africa, the Mattei Plan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo’s crisis linked to its vast mineral resources. Although these articles were not published, the process of researching and writing them significantly expanded my knowledge and analytical skills.
My academic background has further strengthened my expertise. During my studies, I examined the Middle East from a historical and religious perspective, as well as various African realities through a historical and cultural lens. These courses equipped me with a solid foundation in understanding complex geopolitical issues and international dynamics, which align closely with the areas of focus of your institute.
I am fluent in English, benefiting from my American heritage, and proficient in French, thanks to my French nationality. These linguistic skills have been instrumental in conducting research and analyzing sources from diverse perspectives.
The opportunity to intern at your esteemed institute represents a natural continuation of my academic journey and a unique chance to deepen my expertise in African Affairs. I am particularly drawn to "Mediterranean, Middle East And Africa" curricular internship as they resonate with my academic interests and career aspirations.
I am confident that my background, skills, and passion align with the requirements of this internship. I would be honored to contribute to your team and to further develop my knowledge and abilities in such a stimulating environment.
Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of discussing how my profile matches the needs of your institute.
Yours sincerely,
Anton Hequet
