internship at the clinical laboratory
During my internship at the clinical laboratory I gained practical experience in the diagnostic workflow of patients affected by hematological disorders.
My activities include:
- Patient reception and sample collection procedures
- Correct identification and management of biological samples
- Hematological analyses using automated diagnostic instruments
- Microbiological diagnostics and identification of microorganisms in biological samples (blood, urine, feces, vaginal swabs, semen samples, sputum)
I perform antibiotic susceptibility testing using the Kirby-Bauer method. After isolating microorganisms on selective media, I prepare standardized inocula, seed them on Mueller-Hinton agar, apply antibiotic discs and measure inhibition zones to determine bacterial susceptibility.
