A conservationist with 18 years’ experience in Environment and Natural Resources Management.My passion on wetlands lead me to a research which revealed values placed on wetlands in Malawi, documented drivers and pressure of wetlands and policy effectiveness in managing wetlands , a thesis which was undertaken through University of Edinburgh as part of MSc Biodiversity ,Wildlife and Ecosystems Health.

Senior Environmental Officer Responsible for Biodiversity

  • Resource mobilization to ensure there is sufficient technical and financial resources to support implementation of biodiversity activities at national level and managing project resources;
  • Development and review of National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plans and monitoring, promoting and facilitating national implementation of these plans;
  • Coordination and provision of secretarial services for National Committees on Biodiversity
  • Promoting development of Local Biodiversity Strategies and action plans and liaising with local councils in biodiversity implementation
  • Monitoring progress on implementation of biodiversity activities and producing national reports
  • Training national biodiversity committees and district officers on emerging biodiversity issues;
  • Providing assistance in implementation of biosafety activities for regulating living modified organisms
  • Promoting awareness on biodiversity through development and implementation of awareness programmes;
  • Facilitating issuance of permits from government and prior informed consent from genetic resource providers for the access, collection and export of genetic resources and development of mutually agreed terms to ensure the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from their utilization;
