Thanks also to the teaching of my parents, today I am a girl who since the early years of adolescence has tried to be independent and to find "jobs" that could help me obtain small satisfactions and thus be able to satisfy some whims without the need to ask continuously money to my parents. For this reason, I liked to experiment, change, throw myself into new experiences, without depriving myself too much of opportunities or occasions even though at first glance they seemed to be completely outside my comfort zone.
Twirling is a sport similar in some aspects to rhythmic and artistic gymnastics, but nevertheless presents some elements that fundamentally characterize it, in particular the use of a "stick". In fact, the term twirling derives from the English verb "to twirl", whose Italian translation is "to rotate".
Twirling is a technical-combinatorial competitive discipline that enhances individual physical factors, highlighting the aesthetic aspect of the movement. It combines movements typical of dance, rhythmic and artistic gymnastics, the use of a stick that is thrown into the air or rotated over the body.
But doing Twirling is not just a sport, it is also an art. Art because it requires style and beauty, sport because it combines intense coordination to keep the club in motion while the body moves gracefully, through various movements adapted with musical interpretation, high levels of concentration and physical effort.
Twirling develops loyalty and the competitive spirit, improves the physical skills of gymnastics and dance, the artistic expression and aesthetic sense of skating and ballet, and combines the technique of each of these sports.
The exercises, performed on a musical basis, represent the perfect fusion between elegance, spectacularity, harmony...
Twirling is practiced by both sexes in the promotional, amateur, pre-competitive and competitive sectors at both individual and team levels. The athletes' performances are evaluated by judges, who attribute to the exercise a value relative to technical merit and another relative to artistic expression.
The rotating stick is a metal rod with a circular section that measures between 50 and 75 cm in length, at the ends of which there are two rubber buttons: one small (TIP) and another large (BALL).
Beyond the significant number of years in this discipline, this activity has become a truly second family from several points of view.
It taught me the meaning of words like organization, commitment, dedication, support, friendship and, as I said before, a second family.
