Having worked as a journalist for over 30 years interviewing people from all walks of life, these interpersonal skills have given me confidence in a counselling role.
In the two placements it has been a privilege to be able to counsel a diverse range of clients enabling me to build on my skills. An empathetic counselling approach empowers the client to be able to process challenging emotions and issues.
I have a strong command of the ethical issues that counselling brings and embrace diversity treating all clients warmly and without judgment.
After receiving my Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling I have now been taken on in a paid role at Access Counselling, while continuing with my long-term placement clients. I have had one client so far who self-referred to the agency and pays me directly for our weekly sessions.
