• Oversee bridge operations, ensuring navigational readiness and bridge team coordination.
• Work with the Master to enhance pilotage and ship maneuvering skills.

• Ensure proper loading/stability conditions, ballast management, and documentation.

• Overseeing Safety Drills:Coordinating and conducting regular safety drills for both passengers and crew, including lifeboat, fire-fighting, and emergency evacuation drills.
• Inspecting Safety Equipment:Regularly inspecting and maintaining all lifesaving and firefighting equipment, including lifeboats, life rafts, fire extinguishers, and emergency lighting, ensuring they are in proper working order and compliant with regulations.
• Enforcing Safety Regulations:Ensuring strict adherence to company safety policies, maritime safety standards, and international regulations, such as the ISM Code and SOLAS.
• Training Crew:Training crew members on safety procedures, emergency protocols, and the proper use of safety equipment, often in collaboration with other deck officers.
• Document Management:Maintaining accurate records of safety drills, inspections, and other safety-related activities, as well as ensuring all safety-related documents are up-to-date and readily available.
• Incident Investigation:Investigating safety-related incidents, near misses, and potential hazards, and reporting findings to the appropriate authorities.

• Bridge Watchkeeper:Standing watch on the bridge, ensuring safe navigation and maneuvering during assigned shifts.
• Navigation and Maneuvering:Overseeing the vessel's course, speed, and position, using navigation equipment and charts.
• Safety Oversight:Ensuring all safety procedures are followed, reporting any deficiencies to the Staff Captain or Master, particularly regarding watchkeeping, BRM, stability, and seaworthiness.
• Bridge Management:Acting as the "Bridge Manager," responsible for maintaining bridge standards, watchkeeping procedures, and the overall safety of the bridge team.
• Voyage Planning:Executing and monitoring the voyage plan according to Bridge Resource Management (BRM) procedures.
• Training and Supervision:Supervising the correction and upkeep of charts and publications, and training the deck department on relevant procedures.
• Communication:Maintaining clear and effective communication with other departments, the bridge team, and shore-based personnel.
• Team Leadership:Leading and motivating the deck team, fostering a positive and efficient work environment.
• Maintenance:Participating in the maintenance of deck equipment, ensuring it is in good working order.
