Energetic and enthusiastic volunteer with natural ability for engaging and working with children and understanding their needs. Displays outgoing personality, curiosity to learn and improve their skills.
My role was to support and help students doing their homework and explain to them concepts or topics they didn't understand or struggled with.
Based on their age and their personality I elaborated different learning plans to make them understand the course materials and better keep them focused, especially with kids who require a more playful approach.
While tutoring I also put effort into strengthening their confidence and self-esteem, reassuring them when they made mistakes.
My main role was to entertain the little girl and create new games to play outside with her. My role was also to supervise her while she was playing with her peers and make sure she was in a safe play environment.
While babysitting my little cousins I had to make sure they were always in a safe environment, I had to play and entertain them in activities that didn't required the use of technology and I had to prepare them a meal whenever they were hungry.
During summer camp my role as an entertainer was to supervise kids during group activities such as hiking and handcrafting.
I also had to engage them in group dances and sports and help in the preparation of meals.
At birthday parties my job is to make sure that no kids are left out and that they are enjoying their time there. I dance with them, create games to play together, supervise them interacting with each other in a respectful way and calm them down when any possible fight arises.
I was member of the school's journal club. My job was to write articles about any of my interests, hobbies or any knowledge I had to share with the other students of the school.
This volunteering program organized by the local library was aimed to help kids from grade 1 to grade 6 to learn how to read and in general improve their reading and writing skills as well as learn how to cooperate and work in groups.
My job was to encourage children to read more and make reading an amusing and fascinating activity.
For kids that were just starting to read, I had to help them make sound the words they struggled recognizing.
On the other hand, with the more advanced readers, my role was to correct them with tact when they misread a word, without making them feel like they were incapable of reading properly.
During the group games my job was to entertain the kids and make sure that they were playing respectfully while learning how to properly engage with peers and improve their social skills.
Since I was little I've always loved reading and creating new stories with my writing skills that I improved throughout the years. Hiking is another passion of mine which I dedicate myself to during the weekends when I go to the mountains with my dad. As I already mentioned, thanks to the many years of swimming courses, I became a confident and good swimmer and I like to practice this hobby during summer or when I'm feeling very stressed. To conclude travelling has always been one of my biggest passions that pushed me to go alone in Germany at the young age of 14 and especially spend a year in Canada with a host family in a Canadian school.
