During my three-year curricular internship, which is part of my study program, I had the opportunity to gain experience in various areas of obstetric and gynecological care. I spent time in the delivery room, the gynecological operating theater, the obstetrics ward, and the obstetric pathology department. In addition, I worked in the obstetric-gynecological emergency department and the pregnancy monitoring clinic. I also collaborated with the family planning clinic, providing territorial assistance, and in the transplant surgery department, thus expanding my professional skills.
Among the skills acquired during my internship, I can list:
- Provided comprehensive prenatal care, ensuring patient education and emotional support throughout pregnancy.
- Assisted in labor and delivery processes, promoting safe and effective childbirth experiences for patients.
- Conducted postpartum assessments, monitoring maternal health and addressing any concerns post-delivery.
- Collaborated with obstetricians and healthcare teams to develop individualized birth plans based on patient needs.
- Educated expectant parents about breastfeeding techniques and newborn care practices to enhance family readiness.
- Implemented evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes during labor and delivery procedures.
- Educated mothers and families on pregnancy-related topics to inform and prepare for pregnancy, childbirth and newborn care.
- Promoted benefits of breastfeeding and offered education on proper positioning, latching and breast care.
